Marion with 'Ublahdar' Brian and Maria Jacksons Cat in Gondomar Spain.
Ron and Marion have left Sea-D in Gibraltar and hired a car and drove from Gibraltar through Portugal to Gondomar to see Brian and Maria Jackson. We contacted Brian some weeks before we made the trip, Ron asked Brian how will we find you, Brian's reply was that's easy, when you arrive in Gondomar find the Cafe' in the Town Square, go inside and speak, Ron inquired what do you mean Speak, just Speak just say anything. So we arrived in Gondomar, found the Cafe', Ron went inside and asked the Lady behind the counter for directions to Brian and Maria Jackson's house. She turned to the Man standing near her and spoke in a language that was as foreign to Ron as I am sure ours was to her, the Man behind the counter speaking 'rapid' spanish directed us to a table under a big Palm tree on the pavement, as quickly as he spoke two coffee's arrive and he then disappeared. A few minutes later Brian arrives in his Mini. It turns out Brian had told the owners of the Cafe' to expected some Australian's that will not be able to speak spanish and when they arrive please call him. Brian later told us that details of our visit had spread through the town. Marion's 'Pop' Joseph Rutter Jackson in at rest in the Cemetery at Gondomar, when we went to the Cemetery to pay our respects, Brian was so pleased that we were observed by a couple of local women, the reason being that before us no 'English' had been to visit. |
